PatrimonyBLACK LABEL SERIES
The dark, intensely hued 2021 vintage delivers a varietally pure bouquet of black cherry, strawberry, plum, vanilla, sage, tobacco and black olive. The palate is elegant and expansive, revealing layers of blueberry, cooked red fruit, cocoa powder, espresso and baking spice. Polished tannins and bright acidity cascade into a stunningly long finish. This wine is a masterpiece of balance, structure and staying power that will reward patient cellaring for decades to come.
“The PATRIMONY Black Label Series is a special selection of two barrels chosen for their unsurpassed depth, dimension and power. I do not doubt that you will be as awed as I am by the magnitude of this wine.”
DANIEL J. DAOU, Winemaker & Proprietor
The 2021 growing season was preceded by a dry winter, with only one large storm system that provided considerable rainfall in February. A period of light rain in July also replenished the soil with much-needed moisture. While the summer season was marked by periodic heat waves, the weather cooled down by mid-August and remained that way through harvest. This cooling trend allowed the fruit to enjoy exceptional hang time. In the end, low yields and small berries provided wines with fine balance and vivid varietal flavors.
